Both the OFC Women’s Nations Cup 2025 and the international rugby test match between Fiji and Scotland will go ahead as scheduled at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva this July.

The Fiji Football Association, Fiji Rugby Union, and Fiji Sports Council have come to a win-win agreement after constructive discussions and careful planning.

The Fiji FA had secured the stadium from 1st to 21st July 2025 for the FIFA-sanctioned OFC Women’s Nations Cup but the Council later confirmed a booking for the Fiji Rugby Union to host Scotland on 12th July.

The Fiji FA says understanding the importance of both events, Fiji FA worked closely with the Oceania Football Confederation to find a way forward.

They say they gave a few options to OFC to consider, with the first option being that the tournament schedule remains unchanged and the rugby match be allowed in between on strict conditions.

The Fiji FA says OFC agreed to this option, provided that the ground is fully match-ready for football on 14th July, with no rugby markings or damages visible after the rugby match.

FFA CEO Mohammed Yusuf says they are grateful to the OFC for understanding the situation and trusting them to manage it responsibly.

He says they worked hard to find a solution that respects the integrity of the tournament while supporting the growth of rugby and this is a win for both sports.

FRU General Manager Operations Sale Sorovaki says they sincerely thank Fiji FA and OFC for their great understanding and support.

He says this historic match against Scotland means a lot to Fiji Rugby, and they are happy to be hosting it at home without affecting the football schedule.

Sports Council CEO Gilbert Vakalalabure thanked both Fiji FA and FRU for coming together and working out the best solution.

He says this is a great example of national sporting bodies collaborating for the good of all fans and athletes.
