Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for External Trade, Co-operatives and SMEs, Manoa Kamikamica says there are some announcements that will come soon about the cost of the ministerial positions.

He says there is a possible cabinet sitting in the next couple of days and he will leave it for the Prime Minister to make the announcement.

Kamikamica also says in terms of the manifesto, they had committed to the reduction to the ministerial salary and says they all know some of the allowances were excessive and there is a commitment to look at that.

He says with some of those reductions, the total cost will land somewhere to what the current cost is but they will look at it.

Kamikamica further says the decision to have three Deputy Prime Ministers was the Prime Minister’s.

He says they have their own Ministries to look after and what tasks they are allocated in terms of over and above their ministerial positions is for the Prime Minister to decide but he is not expecting any additional salary for being Deputy Prime Minister and they will just take their ministerial salary which will probably be cut anyway.

He adds in terms of cost to the country, it will be zero but it is also out of respect to their coalition partners.
