The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side is through to the semi-finals of the HSBC SVNS Cape Town 7s after defeating New Zealand 35-5 this morning, and they will face Argentina at 10.44 tonight.
Fiji scored three unanswered tries in the first half, with Vuiviwa Naduvalo scoring twice and Pilipo Bukayaro scoring once to lead 21-0 at halftime.
Discipline cost Fiji as Ilikimi Vunaki was shown a yellow card.
New Zealand managed to score their first try through Jayden Keelan, but Fiji responded with a try from Terio Veilawa to extend their lead to 28-5.
Veilawa scored another try with a few seconds left to play to end New Zealand’s chance of progressing.
Fiji lost to South Africa 24-21 in their first pool match, and they defeated Great Britain 21-17 in their second match.
Meanwhile, France will meet South Africa at 10.22 tonight in the second semi-final.
In other results, Spain defeated Argentina 31-26, and France beat Australia 17-5.
The final will begin at 2.43am tomorrow.
