Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew

The Fiji Police Force has repealed its Extra Marital Affairs Policy where officers found to be cheating on their partners were previously terminated.

While confirming this, Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew says the policy was very harsh in terminating people.

He says they have invested in the officers over the years and just because of extra marital affairs, they were sent home.

Chew says they will investigate any reports of extra marital affairs but no one will be suspended from their post.

He says they noted when the Extra Marital Affairs Policy came in, they started to get more reports of the issue compared to when there was no such policy.

The Acting Police Commissioner says there should be trust between a husband and a wife and the head of any organisation cannot tell a particular officer to do what is right or what is wrong as it is their choice.

Chew adds it is their choice and when they get involved with each other, they started off that journey, not the Police Force, and when they break that journey, they are the ones to fix it, not the Force.
