Twelve reports are under investigation from the Commission of Inquiry report into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says a number of these investigations were already ongoing before the commencement of the Commission of Inquiry.

Tudravu says six of these cases have been sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, five are still under investigation, and one report has been filed.

He also confirms that another three investigation files have been forwarded to the DPP for legal advice.

The Commissioner says this leaves two cases still under investigation, one of which involves a complaint against a senior member of the COI.

He adds that the second case is a complaint lodged by the former FICAC Commissioner against a senior member of FICAC.

Tudravu further explained that, in summary, out of the twelve reports, nine are pending legal advice from the DPP, two cases remain under investigation, and one has been filed.

The Commissioner adds that the filed case relates to a complaint lodged in 2024 against the former FICAC Commissioner for allegedly disseminating confidential information from the National Voter Registration database.

He says the investigation file was returned by the DPP and subsequently filed as there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
