Despite facing personal challenges, including becoming a young mother at the start of Year 12, Milika Vereivalu from Yalava Village in Macuata says her highest achievement is earning the Highest GPA in iTaukei Studies at the University of Fiji in 2022 which is a testament to her dedication, resilience and hard work.

Vereivalu continued her studies after giving birth.

Enrolling at UniFiji in 2022, Vereivalu faced financial hurdles, particularly with daily transport and meal expenses, but is grateful to her uncle for the support by providing her with bus fare and money for meals.

Vereivalu says she is proud to have achieved the highest GPA in iTaukei Studies, through the support and encouragement of her family, lecturers and peers.

She now hopes to use her knowledge to contribute to the protection and development of iTaukei resources and culture, aspiring to work with the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs or the iTaukei Land Trust Board.

Her achievement is an inspiring story of determination, showing that with focus, hard work and support, even the toughest challenges can be overcome.
