The people of Namosi are concerned about the spread of drugs in their area and they have informed the Namosi Provincial Council that new vehicles are seen at night along the interior areas of Namosi which they believe are transporting drugs to the villages.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Namosi Provincial Council Chairman, Ratu Iowane Matanitobua says drugs are not only found in towns but have now reached some villages in Namosi.

He says the village Headman and District representatives have been reminded that if visitors visit their village, their responsibility is to ask them what they came for, the reason for their trip and how long will they stay in the village.

Ratu Iowane also highlighted that the Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua has informed the Great Council of Chiefs that former soldiers who lived in the village will be working together with the village Headman to watch over the community on drugs.

He adds the need to stop the spread of drugs requires cooperation from villagers, police and the government.

Meanwhile, the Chairman says this week, Ratu Suliano, the Police and the Namosi Provincial Office will be visiting every district to address the need for everyone to contribute and work together in the fight against drugs.
