The man convicted of striking his father on the head with a cane knife as well as threatening to stab his mother has been given a suspended sentence.
Chand has been convicted with a count each of assault and criminal intimidation.
The 23 year old has been sentenced to 8 months imprisonment, suspended for 3 years.
This means if he commits a crime within this period, he will be imprisoned.
Chand appeared before High Court Judge Justice Usaia Ratuvili this morning.
He has also been given a permanent DVRO to not make contact with his parents.
