Central College student Titilia Grace has been crowned Student Designer of the Year at the Fiji Fashion Week Student Designer Show Presented by Fiji Water, impressing judges with a collection inspired by nature and Fiji Water.
Grace, who hails from Tailevu, says she never expected to win the top award and was shocked when her name was announced.
Speaking to fijivillage News, she says one of her biggest challenges was finding the money to buy materials for her designs, and she is grateful to those who supported and sponsored her journey.
Grace says her collection, Floral Hazel, carried the theme Blooming Serenity and was inspired by nature and the colour green, while one design was inspired by Fiji Water.
She is encouraging young Fijians interested in fashion design to never give up and to follow their passion.
The Fiji Water Student Fashion Designer Show was held at the Vodafone Arena, where 15 student designers showcased their creations on the runway.
Dudley High School finished as first runner-up, while Natabua High School was named second runner-up.
Managing Director of Fiji Fashion Week Ellen Whippy-Knight thanked Fiji Water for sponsoring the event and for committing its support to the student designer programme for the next three years.
The show also recognised outstanding models, with Samuel Waqaniburotukula of Marist Brothers High School winning Best Male Model, while Adi Luse Naivalu of Natabua High School took out the Best Female Model award.
