Twenty new recruits from across Fiji are leaving our shores today

Twenty new recruits from across Fiji are leaving our shores today to start training in the United Kingdom for the British Army.

British Army Support Officer, Major Darren Dangerfield says the recruits are mostly feeling ecstatic and over the moon to be given this opportunity.

Major Dangerfield says only one recruit did not get his visa on time so he will be leaving next week to join them.

He adds the 20 recruits are all men but there is quite a lot of females that have already gone across and are currently training in the three assessment centres in the United Kingdom.

Major Dangerfield was joined by close family members to farewell the new recruits in Nadi this morning.

Meanwhile, Fiji-born Sailasa Laudola graduated today in Pirbright as a member of British Army.

Sailasa is a survivor of the tragic accident in Nabou last year which claimed six lives.

Sailasa was brought up by single mum.
