New vehicle from Kontiki Finance to strengthen Fiji Cancer Society’s community outreach

Kontiki Finance has continued its long-standing partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society by donating a fully maintained vehicle to support the organisation’s outreach programmes.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Kontiki Finance Group Human Resources Manager, Leeanne Dalton highlighted that the vehicle, valued between $42,000 and $45,000, will help the organisation reach more communities and support patients who need access to essential services.

Dalton says the partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society began in 2018, with the company providing a fully maintained vehicle every year.

She says that every second year, one of the vehicles is replaced, ensuring the Society has access to two reliable vehicles at any given time to support its outreach work.

Dalton adds that the vehicle is fully maintained by Kontiki Finance, with the company covering servicing, insurance and fuel costs.

She also challenged other corporate organisations to support community-based initiatives.

She adds that such initiatives benefit not only the organisations involved, but the wider community as well, by directly improving access to care for those who need it most.

Fiji Cancer Society CEO, Belinda Chan says she is grateful to Kontiki Finance for providing this support.

She says the vehicle will allow them to transport patients, carry out outreach programmes, conduct screenings, and travel to the Western Division to support their community work.

Chan stresses that NGOs are finding it very difficult to operate, especially those working closely with communities, and that support such as this is extremely meaningful.
