Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, described the participation as a significant milestone for special and inclusive education in Fiji.
He says the opportunity allows students to showcase their talents, build confidence and take part meaningfully in the wider community.
Radrodro acknowledged the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma for providing the opportunity, as well as the Fiji Council of Special and Inclusive Educators, the Fiji Disabled Persons Federation, parents, teachers, school leaders and other organisations for their continued support.
He also praised the students and teachers for their dedication and commitment to the competition.
The students have been practising separately at their respective schools and coordinating their performances through a Viber group before coming together as one choir.
The Minister says the students’ participation demonstrates that, when provided with the right opportunities, encouragement and support, they can achieve their goals and make valuable contributions to society.
He says the performance will be the beginning of the Fiji Council of Special and Inclusive Educators Choir and create more opportunities for students to participate in singing, drama, dance, poetry and other creative activities.
He wished the students and teachers the very best for the competition, encouraging them to enjoy the experience, celebrate their talents and take pride in representing their schools and the special and inclusive education community.
The Choir competition is at the Vodafone Arena at 4pm.
