Hollywood actor Cliff Curtis has been involved in a “high-speed” crash on Auckland’s waterfront.
Stuff understands the film star, who appeared in big screen blockbusters such as Avatar, Once Were Warriors and Live Free or Die Hard, was behind the wheel of a customised matte black Tesla that crashed into a parked taxi on the corner of Jellicoe and Halsey streets last Wednesday night.
FENZ Auckland City senior station officer Michael Manning previously told NZME that given this area of town, it was a very high-speed impact.
A person had to be cut out of the parked taxi before being transported to hospital in a serious condition.
Another person was also taken to Auckland City Hospital in a moderate condition.
Police this week said their investigation into the crash was ongoing and one person remained in hospital.
Stuff understands the crash is being investigated by the police's Serious Crash Unit.
Stuff spoke to a woman at Curtis’s lakefront Rotorua property on Thursday.
She said he was unavailable.
Asked if Curtis was okay after the crash she said it was not a good time, as she had a cold and he was “resting”.
Cliff Curtis confirms that he suffered internal injuries and was hospitalised following a collision with another vehicle in Auckland last Friday.
Immediately after the collision, Curtis assisted the other injured parties with first aid until emergency services arrived.
Curtis says he is deeply saddened by this incident and his thoughts are with those who were hurt, and their families at this time.
The Hollywood star is collaborating fully with relevant authorities, and out of respect for the process, no further comment will be made.
