Two properties owned by Sean 'Diddy' Combs in Los Angeles and Miami have been searched by federal agents as part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation, according to reports.

The searches were connected to a sex trafficking investigation by federal authorities in New York.

In a statement, Homeland Security Investigations says it executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and their local law enforcement partners.

Several phones were seized from Combs in Miami before he was scheduled to depart on a trip to the Bahamas.

The American music mogul has been the subject of several lawsuits, including for sexual assault, in recent months.

Combs is among the most influential hip hop producers and executives of the past three decades.

Also known as Puff Daddy and P Diddy, he built one of hip-hop's biggest empires, blazing a trail with several entities attached to his name.

He is the founder of Bad Boy Records and a three-time Grammy winner who has worked with several top-tier artists including Notorious BIG, Mary J Blige, Usher, Lil Kim, Faith Evans and 112.
