France have booked their place in the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating Iraq 3-0 in their Group I clash.
Captain Kylian Mbappé starred for the French side, scoring in the 14th and 54th minutes, while Ousmane Dembélé added the third goal in the 66th minute.
France held a 1-0 lead at halftime before dominating the second half to secure a comfortable victory.
The French are ranked second in the latest FIFA World Rankings and are making their 17th FIFA World Cup appearance. They are two-time world champions, having won the title in 1998 and 2018.
The Iraqis are ranked 58th in the FIFA World Rankings and are making their second FIFA World Cup appearance. They remain without a win after suffering their second consecutive defeat of the tournament.
France will conclude their Group I campaign against Norway at 7am on Saturday, while Iraq will face Senegal at the same time.
Meanwhile, in other matches, Argentina defeated Austria 2-0 earlier this morning.
Norway is currently leading Senegal 1-nil at halftime and Algeria will face Jordan at 3pm.
