Cicia Retail Shop closed over unsanitary conditions and pest infestation

Health Inspectors in Lau have issued a closure order for Cicia Retail Shop, located beside the Post Office in Cicia, after the shop failed to comply with a three-month abatement notice to improve unsanitary conditions.

Ministry of Health inspectors found the presence of pests, including cockroaches, along with structural defects in the building, which were also identified as Occupational Health and Safety risks and potential cross-contamination risks for food products being sold on the premises.

They say the shop owners have now been given time to address the issues before inspectors carry out a reinspection.

The Ministry says the shop will only be allowed to reopen once health inspectors confirm that all unsanitary conditions and structural concerns have been fully rectified.
