Westpac Fiji has confirmed they have recieved a significant number of requests and enquiries from both business and home/personal loan customers since they announced the COVID-19 Customer Package.

Westpac Fiji Chief Executive, Kip Hanna says right now they are seeing around 60% of applications for assistance from business customers and from those who need help with home loans.

Hanna says they have so far seen the greatest impact is on those who are involved in sectors where business contracted significantly due to the pandemic such as tourism and related sectors like aviation and hospitality.

He says at the moment, application processing times may be longer than usual due to the number of applications but adds that his teams work through all requests as quickly and diligently as possible. Hanna is urging customers to reach out early if they start to experience financial distress or to worry about making loan payments.

He also says that loan repayment holidays are just one option and they are willing to assist customers to understand other options available so they can choose the best for their business or family.
