It is shocking that the most common banking fraud that ANZ has come across involves family members obtaining financial advantage from their loved ones by using their bank cards for transactions.

This was revealed by ANZ Fiji Country Head, Rabih Yazbek during a round table discussion on the growing cyber threats across the region and its effects on businesses.

When questioned what are the dangers of mobile banking, ANZ New Zealand Head of Information Security, Eli Hirschauge responded that it starts with consumers when some of them end up sharing their username and password with another person.

Hirschauge says to avoid these scenarios, a third layer of security has been added to the mobile banking website that protects their customers' accounts.

He says when scams take place and money is transferred to other banks within Fiji, it is manageable to get accounts blocked or on hold after a police report has been made.

The ANZ Head of Information says it is important for all stakeholders to come together and address such issues as and when they arise.

He further says that they will continue to have workshops to address the impacts of cyber attacks on businesses and their customers.
