Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises across Fiji stand to benefit significantly from a $4.9 million expansion of the Government’s MSME Grant Programmes, providing greater support to help businesses grow and thrive.

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, says these initiatives aim to provide the tools, resources, and confidence needed for small businesses to grow, innovate, and contribute to national economic development.

The Acting Prime Minister emphasised that this expansion is more than just financial support; it is an investment in people, their creativity, and sustainable business practices.

He says these grants offer Fijians the opportunity to pursue their dreams, expand their businesses, and create jobs that strengthen communities across Fiji. He also highlighted the Government’s commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable growth by supporting entrepreneurs in both urban and rural areas.

Effective from next Monday, eligible businesses can submit their Expressions of Interest for the five programmes, which include the following:

Young Entrepreneurship Scheme where grant threshold will be increased from $30,000 to $50,000, with 60 percent of funding supporting unique and innovative business ideas and 40 percent assisting existing businesses aiming for sustainability and net-zero carbon emissions.

National Export Strategy where funding will be increased from $100,000 to $150,000 to support businesses expanding into export markets. Integrated Human Resources Development Programme where grants up to $150,000 remain, with a $2 million budget distributed to ensure inclusivity — 35 percent allocated to urban businesses and 65 percent to peri-urban and rural enterprises.

Trade Enhancement Programme where the grant threshold will be increased from $1,000 to $5,000 to better support micro-businesses amid rising costs. Northern Development Programme which continues to provide critical support to businesses in the Northern Division, fostering regional economic growth.
