Defence to file no-case-to-answer application in health tender trial
A no-case-to-answer application will be filed by the defence lawyers for former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and former Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma in the health tender trial.

This comes after Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Laisani Tabuakuro closed the State's case this afternoon.

A total of 14 State witnesses testified during the trial.

Oral arguments on the no-case-to-answer application will be heard on 21st August.

Bainimarama is charged with one count of abuse of office.

Sayed-Khaiyum is charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of obstructing the course of justice.

Dr Sharma is charged with two counts of abuse of office and two counts of breach of trust by a person employed in the public service.
