Auckland City have won their fifth consecutive OFC Men’s Champions League title after beating Solomon Islands’ Central Coast FC 2-0 in the final at 4R Stadium, Govind Park in Ba.

Both teams had chances in the first half, but neither could find the breakthrough as the match remained scoreless at half-time.

Central Coast FC’s Rafa Lea’i caused problems for the Auckland City defence with his pace and skill, while Auckland City also created several chances through Matt Ellis and Ryan De Vries.

Auckland City finally took the lead with just over 20 minutes remaining through Ryan De Vries, before Matt Ellis doubled their lead nine minutes later to give them a 2-0 advantage.

Central Coast FC’s hopes of a comeback suffered a further blow in the 83rd minute when Prince Tahunipue was shown a straight red card.

The victory gives Auckland City their fifth consecutive OFC Men’s Champions League title and their 14th title overall.
