The Golden State Warriors have paid a visit to former US president Barack Obama to celebrate their 2018 NBA title during their annual trip to Washington, by‑passing the White House.

Golden State forward Draymond Green posted a photo on Instagram of their visit to Obama’s Washington office yesterday ahead of their game against the Wizards.

Two‑time NBA most valuable player Stephen Curry, a golfing buddy of Obama, described the meeting as a "very low‑key" affair, adding that it was "a great time for them to kind of talk about life and not basketball".

The Washington Post reports Golden State didn't visit the White House last year in recognition of their 2017 championship, with Curry saying he wouldn’t have met with President Trump even if invited and Trump then withdrawing any invitation that may or may not have existed.
