Rokotunidau to reappear on Tuesday in attempted murder of police officer case
The man who is charged with the attempted murder of a female police officer in Laqere, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine will appear again at the Suva High Court next Tuesday.

Saimoni Rokotunidau was in court today to explain his absence from 28th July to 13th August and also to check on his bail.

Rokotunidau explained to High Court Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere that he has been trying to contact his lawyer Jerry Dinati but his number is diverted.

However, he produced some medical documents to the court which Justice Tuiqereqere says he cannot decipher as he has no medical knowledge.

Justice Tuiqereqere has asked Rokotunidau to produce a note from a doctor to explain his absence from court and until that is received he cannot consider bail.

Rokotunidau was also asked by the court if he wants to continue with Dinati as his counsel or if he wants to engage another lawyer or maybe Legal Aid.

Justice Tuiqereqere says he is pushing this case forward and will set a trial date next Tuesday even if Rokotunidau does not have a lawyer.
