Padarath and Vakaloloma handed suspended sentences for forging PM's signature

Suva based lawyer, Aseri Vakaloloma has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and Suva businessman, Benjamin Padarath to 14 months imprisonment for forging the signature of Voreqe Bainimarama.

Their two sentences have been suspended for 2 years.

This means that Padarath and Vakaloloma will be jailed if they commit an offense within the 2 years.

They were earlier found guilty for one count of forgery by the Suva Magistrates Court.

They were charged by FICAC with one count each of forgery in 2011.

The Vakaloloma and Padarath had forged the Articles of Association for BECP Engineering Construction Fiji Limited creating a false  document namely page 27 of the article of association of the aid company by inserting the name, address and the signature of Voreqe Bainimarama as the Director of the company.

The forged document was found in the bedroom of the second accused Benjamin Padarath.

The offences occurred between October and December of 2009.
