Council workers to be sent home for not using proper equipment

Council Workers will be sent home if they are not with their proper equipment while working.

Fijivillage raised this question with Suva City Council Special Administrator Chandu Umaria on workers found collecting garbage without proper equipment.

He said all workers are provided with overalls, gumboots, hand gloves, helmets and required equipment and should use them accordingly and if they fail to comply with this they will be sent home.

Umaria said it is a must for all council workers to be dressed in OHS uniform provided for them in order to carry out their work safely.

The council has already spoken to union officials.
