Police to tighten border security

Police to tighten border security
We could soon see increased police presence at our ports of entry as newly appointed Acting Commissioner of Police Joeli Baleilevuka said he will upgrade border control as it is a priority for the government.

Baleilevuka said it was important to have tight security measures to protect the nation and its people from illegal activities and that falls in their strategic objectives.

He said it is about the prevention of crimes and the border control issue is clearly mapped out in the People's Charter.

Baleilevuka has assured that Police would do all in its power to upgrade security at our airports, stressing that we need to have strict and tight control at our borders.

He said in the recent past, hard drugs were detected at the border and that is the reason why they must strengthen the policing of our borders.
