The Springbok Sevens team faces a major setback ahead of the Dubai 7's tournament next week as star playmaker Cecil Africa has been ruled out of the team because of injury.
The 2010/2011 IRB Sevens Player of the Year has not yet recovered from a niggling knee injury sustained at the Gold Coast Sevens and therefore was not considered for selection.
Africa will be replaced by debutant Kevin Luiters, the promising 20 year old Cheetahs scrum half.
South Africa share a tough pool challenge with England, powerful Samoa and the ever improving Portugal.
South Africa takes on England in their first match next Friday.
