New Zealand Rugby Union CEO Steve Tew has not ruled out using the union’s discretionary powers which could allow Ma’a Nonu to play for the All Blacks without taking part in Super Rugby.
He said the NZRU will remain staunch on its rules to ensure All Blacks are based in New Zealand and added that if a player wants to be an All Black he should play his rugby in New Zealand.
Meanwhile, the NZRU is close to making an announcement on the future of former All Black flanker Jerome Kaino.
Kaino is in talks with the union about returning from Japan to play rugby and Tew has confirmed discussions are advanced.
The All Blacks will play Argentina at 10.40am next Sunday while the Springboks will take on the Wallabies at 3am in the Rugby Championship.
