Increase in timber export earnings
Export earnings from timber have increased significantly last year with over $59.3 million raked into the country.

Figures received from Bureau of Statistics reveal that in 2007 $47 million was brought in through timber export which was $37.6 million in 2006.

Last year $27.5 million worth of woodchips, Veneer panels and sheets worth $22 million and Plywood export was $8.08 million.

The Timber Industry looks promising as export earnings is expected to boost further this year following the devaluation of the Fiji dollar.
