LDS provides much needed food supplies

The LDS Church this morning provided much needed food supplies for people in the Northern and Eastern Division who have been affected by Hurricane Tomas.

Acting Director DISMAC, Pajiliai Dobui is thankful for the supplies received at the Government jetty in Suva which has been loaded on government vessels to be shipped to various affected areas.

He confirmed some supermarket owners have also promised to provide food supplies soon.

Dobui added government vessel the Iloilovatu will be supplying relief assistance provided by Australia and New Zealand to the people of Eastern division.

He said they are still waiting for the French plane to arrive and Australia and New Zealand government have offered to provide other assistance.

According to Dobui the assessment teams out on the ground are still trying to identify more needy people who have been affected by the hurricane.
