Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says work on the drafting of the new media decree is now underway and it will be promulgated after consultations with the stakeholders.
Bainimarama also confirmed that the Public Emergency Regulation (PER) will be lifted after the new Media Decree comes into place in Fiji.
Commodore Bainimarama also stressed that Fiji Times and Fiji Television will not be consulted on the Media Decree.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had earlier confirmed to Fijivillage that his office is currently in the process of drafting the Media Decree.
