A major growth is expected in trade figures between Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
This is according to Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who said trade between Fiji and Papua New Guinea amounted to $23 million which accounts for 20 percent of the total trade with the Pacific region.
The Prime Minister said with the removal of most duties by PNG under the MSG Trade Agreement, they expect a major growth in the trade figures for 2013 and 2014.
He has also called on private sectors in both Fiji and Papua New Guinea to work closely with each other in an effort to boost investment opportunities.
Commodore Bainimarama said his government is expected to announce far reaching reforms in the management of Fiji Ports Corporation Limited to maximise and facilitate trade.
