Khan makes submissions
Lautoka lawyer Iqbal Khan, who faces charges of allegedly breaching the legal practioners code of ethics has made submissions for Independent Legal Services Commission Chairman John Connors to disqualify himself from hearing his case alleging possible bias against him.

Khan made written submissions on the basis that he had sued the Commissioner and his wife when Connors was a presiding Judge of the High Court in Fiji.

In his submission Khan also states that the Commissioner cannot be seen to be impartial, that he cannot give a fair trial and that the Commissioner would be biased in his deliberation due to the fact that the Connors was sued by Khan's firm and as such the Commissioner should disqualify himself from hearing the case.

He also submitted that the Commissioner had already formed an opinion that Iqbal Khan's court claim against Connors and his wife was scandalous and frivolous.

However, Chief Registrar Ana Rokomokoti said the two are separate incidents and there is no conflict of interest in Connors hearing the complaint against Khan.

A ruling is expected to be delivered on 3rd February next year.
