Immigration Dept trains officers to combat human trafficking

The Immigration Department is now providing training to all its officers at the main ports of entry to combat human trafficking.
With a number of human trafficking cases reported last year and its first conviction, Director Immigration Major Nemani Vuniwaqa said officers are now provided adequate training to see any signs and symptoms of Human Trafficking.
Indian National Kadali Murti was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment in November last year after being convicted of human trafficking.
