The youth are more comfortable with the concept of unity and multi-racialism in Fiji.
As the constitution consultations continue, Chairman of the commission, Professor Yash Ghai said this has been evident over the past few days when the submissions started.
Professor Ghai also said it has been hard for them at this early stage to get a very clear idea whether on a whole people have been happy with the parliamentary system that Fiji has had since Independence.
Meanwhile an elderly man has proposed for the ownership of land and natural resources to remain with the itaukei.
Serupepeli Vesito of Muanivatu settlement in Vatuwaqa proposed that all crown land should be returned to the itaukei and all freehold land sold in suspicion to be returned.
He also proposed to the commission that all land given to the state to be returned to the itaukei.
Vesito also raised concern that everyone being called a Fijian is a new concept to him and should only be reserved for the itaukei.
He went on to say that human rights should not be practiced in Fiji as it contradicts with the traditional and cultural values which should be protected and safe guarded.
He added that police and military officers should have traditional Fijian hairstyles and proposed that Government be run under a ‘Vanua’ system.
