Priest charged with rape remanded in custody
A Catholic priest charged with one count of rape and one count of indecent assault has been remanded in custody as investigations continue.

The priest appeared in the Tavua Magistrates Court and the case has been adjourned to next week.

Police said earlier today that they have questioned the priest who is suspected of having committed several rapes.

Spokesperson, Naina Ragigia earlier said that the priest is the prime suspect in a series of alleged rapes.

She said a complaint was lodged last week by a cleaner and since then other victims have come forward.

The cleaner was working at the priest's house when the alleged incident occurred.
