More than 11,000 suspected marijuana plants uprooted in Nasuva

More than 11,000 plants believed to be marijuana were uprooted from a farming area in Nasuva, Bua yesterday.

Police say the plants were uprooted during an operation involving officers from Savusavu, the Northern Division Taskforce and the North Police Rugby team.

The owner of the farm is yet to be identified, while the plants will be analysed.

Meanwhile, a man in his 40s has been arrested in Sabeto, Nadi after allegedly found with a zip-lock bag containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, smoking apparatus and a digital scale.

The man remains in custody, while the seized substances have been sent for analysis.

Investigations continue.

Police say drug operations are continuing around the country and are urging members of the public to report suspicious activities or provide information by calling 1681.
