Former Suva Grammar School student and Taranaki Bulls loose forward Josefa Namosimalua has signed with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for the 2027 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, strengthening the club’s loose forward options.
The 23-year-old joins the Drua on a full-time contract, bringing with him valuable experience from New Zealand.
Namosimalua says he is beyond grateful and truly honoured to be part of the Drua vuvale.
He says he never imagined he would be where he is today, but believes this is what God has planned for him and his family.
He also says vinaka vakalevu to the Drua for giving him the opportunity to return home and represent his people.
Namosimalua says he is excited to be back in his homeland, playing alongside some big names and talented players.
He adds that he is most excited about putting on the blue jersey and is looking forward to what lies ahead.
Namosimalua is from Naroi Village in Moala, Lau, and shares maternal links to Naqaidamu in Lomaiviti.
His performances have also earned him recognition at the international level, with the 23-year-old named in the Flying Fijians' extended squad ahead of the October Test against Japan and the Northern Tour.
The uncapped loose forward is now pushing for a potential international debut.
Namosimalua joins the Drua after an impressive season in New Zealand, where he broke into the Taranaki Bulls squad for the NPC.
He made his Taranaki debut against Northland in August before earning a starting opportunity at blindside flanker following a standout club rugby campaign.
The 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season kicks off on the 11th of February where the Crusaders will host the Crusaders.
The Fijian Drua's opening match is against the Highlanders on Saturday, the 13th of February.
