Fiji Bati Head Coach Mick Potter says his side must withstand pressure, remain resilient and make the most of every scoring opportunity if they are to compete against teams such as Australia at the Rugby League World Cup, which kicks off this Thursday.
The Bati will face Australia and New Zealand in their pool matches, two of the strongest teams in international rugby league.
When asked what Fiji needs to do to progress further in the tournament, Potter says Australia builds its game around applying constant pressure on the opposition.
He says the Bati must remain composed and resilient when things are not going their way and avoid conceding points under pressure.
Potter says Australia has high-quality players who will give Fiji very few opportunities to score tries.
He says when those opportunities come, the Bati must make them count.
The Bati will begin their World Cup campaign against the Cook Islands at 5.05pm this Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.
They will then face Australia at 9.05pm on the 25th of this month before taking on New Zealand at 4.30pm on the 31st.
