President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu was formally welcomed at the office of Fiji’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations yesterday, following the delivery of Fiji’s national statement at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The occasion also marked the President’s first participation in the United Nations General Assembly as Fiji’s Head of State and celebrated Fiji’s representation at the world’s foremost multilateral forum.
Ratu Naiqama and First Lady Emily Lalabalavu were traditionally welcomed by staff of Fiji’s Permanent Mission and their families, together with members of the Fijian community in New York.
The gathering reflected the enduring spirit of veiwekani and the strong bonds that continue to unite Fijians wherever they live and serve.
The President, the First Lady and their delegation acknowledged the gesture and expressed their appreciation to those who organised and participated in the welcome.
The occasion was also a moment of unity and national pride following the President’s representation of Fiji and its people on the global stage.
