As Gospel School prepares to celebrate its 65th Blue Sapphire Anniversary on November 27th, the Ex-Scholars Committee held several community activities today, including a Market Day at the school’s Foster Crane Hall, a visit and donation to the Golden Age Home in Samabula, and a clean-up of classrooms and the Gospel School for the Deaf.
Organising Committee member and Class of 1989 ex-scholar Tarai Cama says that as part of the 65-day celebration, each class has claimed a day to carry out activities at the school, including repairing toilets and whiteboards and conducting clean-up campaigns in classrooms and at the Gospel School for the Deaf.
She says the committee organised the Market Day so ex-scholars and the Gospel School community could come together, have fun and give back to where it all started.
Class of 2001 representative Raksna Priya says they are happy with the turnout so far, with some vendors already selling out their products before midday.
She says attending the Market Day was an amazing experience, as she was able to meet some of her former schoolmates whom she had not seen for a very long time.
Priya says they will also be holding activities from now until November 27th in anticipation of the school’s Blue Sapphire Anniversary.
Today, the Class of 1995 visited the Golden Age Home in Samabula, where they delivered household items, toiletries and groceries to assist in looking after the residents.
The Class of 2009 came together to clean up the Gospel School for the Deaf, while the Class of 2017 cleaned up classrooms.
