FICAC witness, Ravu refuses to reveal names on the stand

In an unexpected development in the trial of former Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption's second witness has refused to reveal who questioned him about his case.

Government MP Kalaveti Ravu is testifying in the trial, where Kamikamica faces charges of perjury and providing false information to a public servant.

Ravu declined to disclose who had spoken to him about the case, saying the individuals were his colleagues in the current government.

FICAC requested a break and tried again for Ravu to reveal the names of those that had asked him about his case with FICAC.

Ravu again maintained that he will not reveal the names.

The defence counsel for Kamikamica has filed a no case to answer in the Suva Magistrates Court.

After FICAC closed their case, Wylie Clarke filed for a no case to answer.

Magistrate Charles Ratakele says he will hear both parties tomorrow morning.

FICAC had called two witnesses in Janet Mason counsel who assisted the COI as well as Government MP Kalaveti Ravu.
