SODELPA MP, Ro Filipe Tuisawau has questioned the necessity of the Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and his team to travel to Europe to get the Airbus A350 for Fiji Airways.

While responding to the President’s speech in parliament, Ro Filipe says these large overseas tours are an expensive and irresponsible use of taxpayers' funds.

He says the government must have spent close to $200,000 on this trip while $121,000 was spent for their trip to Geneva for the UN Periodic Review of Human Rights issues.

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum then interjected and said that the spending was not even close to the amount mentioned by Ro Filipe.

The SODELPA MP then claimed that Bainimarama gladly receives the excessive pay and allowance but has given away the bulk of his responsibilities to the Attorney General.

The SODELPA MP also says that there is ridiculous propaganda that one vote, one value, and one system will end racism and there is also a belief that these imposed legal arrangements will take away racism.

He says he received a detailed complaint from the Ministry of Economy in an email that he will forward to the Minister for Economy.

Ro Filipe also called on the government to resign because the economy has not progressed and has called for elections.
