Members of the disciplinary forces yesterday remembered their comrades for their ultimate sacrifice during a moving church service and wreath-laying ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and the Minister for Defence and National Security Inia Seruiratu joined the men and women of Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Fiji Navy and the Fiji Police Force in remembering the officers killed in the line of duty.
The Fijian government says these officers from the RFMF's 3rd Fiji Infantry Regiment paid the ultimate price when they retook the Queen Elizabeth Barracks on “the darkest day in the history of RFMF” on November 2, 2000.
They say we are indebted to them for their bravery and courage they displayed on the 2nd of November and therefore they shall not grow old as we that are left to grow old, age shall not weary them neither years condemned, at the going down of the sun and in the morning, we shall remember them.
