The Ministry of iTaukei Affairs and iTaukei Affairs Board have clarified that the government does not have any policy about village colour coding.

iTaukei Affairs Board Permanent Secretary Naipote Katonitabua says this issue was raised by their Deputy CEO Apakuki Kurusiga during the recent Serua Provincial Council meeting.

Katonitabua adds that no such policy exists.

He confirmed that there were discussions amongst the senior executives to come up with some internal management and monitoring tools for Senior Executives to gauge the Provincial Office on the Roko Tui’s performance in their respective provincial council offices.

Katonitabua says there was no policy introduced or developed on village colour coding for development purposes.

Kurusiga raised in the Serua Provincial Council meeting that the ministry was working on the introduction of a village colour code concept that would allow villages to receive developments according to their colour code.

The villages will be classified into three colour codes - red, yellow and green.

The green coded villages would easily access Government assistance and would be the first ones to be recommended for government developments.

The yellow coded villages would be given development suggestions to help better their standard of living, while the red coded villages would hardly be recommended for any developments, but they would be visited frequently until they improve.
