A Fijian babysitter in Christchurch, New Zealand has been sentenced to five years for the manslaughter of a one‑year‑old baby girl two years ago.
20-year-old Shayal Upashna Sami has been given no minimum non‑parole period.
Sami was in tears as she was sentenced for inflicting multiple blunt force injuries to the child, including two skull fractures.
Sami will be immediately deported back to Fiji once she has served her sentence for manslaughter.
