10 retired Fijian secondary school teachers to teach in Marshall Islands

Ten retired Fijian secondary school teachers continue their passion to teach as they will now serve the Government of the Republic of Marshall Islands.

Employment Ministry Permanent Secretary Salaseini Daunabuna highlighted that the third batch of volunteer teachers assigned to the Marshall Islands were recruited and selected through the Fiji Volunteer Service of the National Employment Centre.

She says that they are contracted for two years and will be deployed to four different high schools teaching Geography, History, English and Mathematics.

Daunabuna adds that of the ten, five teachers are from the second batch and are returning, whereas the remaining five are new teachers.

The first batch of twelve volunteer teachers sent in 2012 were all absorbed into the RMI education system as permanent teachers whilst only two were absorbed from the second batch of seven teachers sent in 2014.

These teachers are scheduled to depart for Marshall Islands on Friday 28 July 2017 as their new school term will begin in August 2017.
