Chinese PLA Navy Hospital Ship Ark Peace to visit Fiji from 2nd to 9th August

People all over Fiji will be able to access Chinese medical services as the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy Hospital Ship - Ark Peace will visit Fiji from 2nd to 9th August.

People can go in for consultations from 9am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 4.30pm at Suva Wharf.

The announcement has been made by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Fiji, Qian Bo.

Ambassador Qian says the visit shows the excellent relations between China and Fiji.

This will be the second visit made by the ship which has about 120 doctors and is aiming to make approximately 600 consultations per day.

The Chinese Ambassador to Fiji also said that medical teams from the ship will also be deployed to the Raiwaqa, Makoi and Lami Health centres, and will be conducting surgeries on 30 patients that will be referred to them by the CWM Hospital.

The ship will be arriving to Fiji from Port Vila in Vanuatu and then will head towards Nukualofa, Tonga.

Ambassador Qian says the significance of this ship is to carry out humanitarian work and to promote world peace.

He says China will continue to support Fiji in their development and does not interfere in Fiji’s internal affairs.

The ambassador added that China is Fiji’s biggest source of investment with 48% investments projects in Fiji.
