Tomasi Cama’s tenure as All Blacks Sevens coach is over.
This morning, hours after the All Blacks Sevens were beaten by France in the final event of the three-tournament World Championship series in Bordeaux, Cama announced he was stepping down.
Cama, who had been part of the coaching group since 2017, said it had been a privilege to lead the All Blacks Sevens as coach since 2023, but believed the timing was right to step away.
He says he has had some incredible opportunities through Sevens and feels privileged to have represented the black jersey both as a player and a coach for more than 20 years.
Cama says he cares deeply about the players and the black jersey will forever be in his heart, but it is time for somebody else to take the reins.
The All Blacks Sevens finished fourth in the world sevens series and second in the championship. The latter was a three-tournament event that was tagged onto the series this season.
Last year the All Blacks Sevens finished a disappointing seventh in the world series.
