The Blitzboks are bracing for a tough challenge in their pool matches at this weekend’s Singapore 7s.
Forward Zander Reynders says even though they won in Cape Town, those results will not help them in Singapore, and they must start again from scratch.
Reynders says the team is well prepared, knowing that reaching the final will be a challenge.
He says with only eight teams playing across six tournaments, teams face each other multiple times, so they have a better idea of what to expect.
He says the margins will be very small, and even their opening match could feel like a quarter-final, highlighting the competitiveness of the series.
South Africa is in the same pool as Fiji, Spain, and Great Britain.
South Africa will take on Spain at 4.54pm on Saturday in their first pool game, followed by matches against Great Britain at 8.20pm and Fiji at 11.46pm.
The Men’s Cup semi finals will start at 6.52pm on Sunday, with the final scheduled for 11.41pm.
